A truly one-of-a-kind (unique piece) postmodern shelf designed by the radical architect Lapo Binazzi (founder of the UFO group) in 1978. This piece was part of a bespoke interior commission for a pediatric dental practice in Florence, Italy, where every element was custom-designed by Binazzi. The shelf is a brilliant example of Radical Design, featuring a playful, comic-book-inspired silhouette that challenges traditional furniture geometry. It is crafted in laminated plywood, featuring the iconic "Bacterio" pattern—the legendary texture designed by Ettore Sottsass for Abet Laminati—which became a hallmark of the Memphis movement just a few years later. This piece is not only a functional object but a significant fragment of Florentine radical history, perfectly capturing Binazzi's ironic and disruptive approach to architecture and design.
